Website traffic refers to user visits to your website. Website traffic plays crucial role if you want to earn money from your blog or website. If your website sells products the more the traffic the more you can sell products. In case of adsense the more the traffic the more you will earn. There are 4 types of website traffic. Each of them explained in detail below
a). Social Traffic - If you post your blog post link in social pages like facebook fan page, twitter and google+ and if user clicks on that link to visit your blog or website then it is called social referral traffic. This will be high when you have large fan base in social sites.
b). Back links - For example if I liked your blog post and included a link to your blog post in my blog post then that is called back link to your blog post. This traffic will be high when your blog is popular and people like your blog or website content. For example below pic shows back links to my blog.

1. Direct Traffic
If user types url in the browser address bar and visits your blog or website then it is called direct traffic. To get direct traffic users should memorize your blog or website's url. Normally popular websites like google, yahoo, microsoft etc. gets this kind of traffic.
2. Organic or Search Traffic
It is difficult for users to remember each website url they have visited. When user searches for a query if your blog or website post appears in search results and if user clicks any search result which directs to your blog or website then it is called Organic or Search traffic. Organic or Search traffic is the one which blog or website admin should look after. If your blog or website has quality content and good page rank then you'll get good search traffic. When user clicks on received feed and visits your website or blog then it is called Feed Traffic. Feed Traffic will be high if your blog or website has large no. of subscribers. Nice information but feed is also considered as referral traffic as it is also like getting traffic from referral.
ReplyDelete@Chandan: As far I know feeds wont come under referral traffic.. a feed is nothing but RSS Feed or Atom Feed which will be delivered to subscribed users only, so there is no matter of referral here..
